Does anyone know of any tutorials that can be either downloaded or viewed online in regards to using the ClientAPI, installing it etc. etc?

Thanks,
HBenton

This is a rather generic question, so I am going to give you a lot of options.

One of the most common places to utilize the ClientAPI is in the development of a WebContol.  The ClientAPI Developing WebControls document walks you through the creation of the TextSuggest control.

Other areas within DNN also utilize the ClientAPI and are documented in ClientAPI MinMax and ClientAPI DragDrop.

A generic description on what the ClientAPI is is found in the document ClientAPI.  The callback capabilities are discussed in Client API Callback.

As stated in the ClientAPI document, the documentation for the api can be found at http://webcontrols.dotnetnuke.com/js/clientapitests/.  Take note of the links to the Unit Tests.

A standalone app that utilizes the WebControls (which use the ClientAPI) can be found at http://webcontrols.dotnetnuke.com/.

Finally, you can visit the ClientAPI project page and read the latest blogs and look at the Downloads which contain the sample apps and modules utilizing the ClientAPI.

Note: If you experience problems clicking the links to the documents above, I suggest downloading the entire zip of all documents and looking at them locally.

Thank you for your reply, I think these links will help me to better get a grasp/understanding of the ClientAPI. When I wrote the original post I was hoping more for links to actual video type tutorials, as I am more a visual learner, however, I will go over these items and try to understand the use of the ClientAPI better.

Another question though, there are times when I open a module, to look at the source and/or html, and I get an error something to the effect of "the clientAPI is not installed", I look in the bin folder and I can see the .dll is there and I even try to re-referrence the .dll, but still get the error. Do you know why that might be?

Thanks,
HBenton

I am not sure if I know what error you are referring to.  Opening up something like html should not give you an error.  During a compile I'd understand...  Please provide more specific information.

I tried to replicate the error and, Murphys Law, go figure, I can't! However, like I indicated, it is sporadic, but I will post another thread the next time it occurs.

Thanks,
HBenton
