Is it possible to download the Default Language pack and install it through the interface?

Cheers,

Kenneth

no, this is not a supported scenario, the default language pack is part of the core installation. What do you try to achieve?

Somehow the default language pack has changed and isn’t working correctly.
It was working with two different languages installed, Norwegian in addition to the default language. Another English UK pack was installed and then removed, and that’s when we started to experience this behavior. Some buttons have disappeared, some text is blank etc.

When we go into Hosts -> Languages and chose edit for the default language pack, the dropdown box for Language and Package are empty, and pressing ‘Update Language Settings’ or ‘Edit Language Files’ returns the error message: “Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
While pressing ‘Update Language’ returns:
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.Features.LanguagePackEditor.UpdatePackage() at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.Extensions.EditExtension.UpdatePackage(Boolean displayMessage) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.Extensions.EditExtension.cmdUpdate_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

I was hoping a cleaning install of the default language might get me out of this trouble.

Any other suggestions on how to get the original language back and running will be most welcome.

Thanks.
Kenneth

Hello Kenneth,

I assume, from your post, that you are talking about DNN v5.0.0 (this I deducted from the message you quoted 'Update Language Settings', which is not present in earlier versions, AFAIK.

If this is so, the package you have downloaded from our site (DNNEnglish.com) this afternoon will be of little help, since there are substantial changes on v5.x.x from v4.x.x.

I have just created a Default (en-US) Core Language Pack for you to download and try on your installation and see if it helps. I am sending it to you by email, if that's OK (I am using the email with which you registered at DNNEnglish.com).

Please tell us if you could solve this issue.

Saludos,
Alejandro.

PS: If someone else is in need of such package (~250 KB), just send me an email ;-)
