Could anyone please comment on the possible drawbacks of simply removing the "" from the web.config file? Have tried it in our development environment (with the intended purpose of getting standard ASP.NET localization to work) and so far it seems promising - both the DNN localization and the ASP.NET localization seem to work, although furter testing is needed.

this might with DNN core and most recent modules, but localization in older modules (DNN4) will break.

 In fact, it doesnt even seem to work with core because if you remove the:

<remove extension=".resx"/>

You will get this in InstallWizard.ascx

Error   87   Unknown server tag 'dnn:WizardUser'.   D:\Projects\Hoist\HIBS\src\www\Website\Install\InstallWizard.aspx   366

I must say that even though I am an experienced DNN and ASP.NET developer, I still don't know of any good solution to enable support for standard ASP.NET localization which I consider to be a MAJOR drawback with DNN, one actually making me think about possible alternatives. But surely there has to be a way to solve this that works with current DNN versions? Have looked at some other solutions but the seem to be either for older versions and might not work anymore, or perhaps more like "hacks" rather than real solutions.

Perhaps it should be noted that excluding the InstallWizard.ascx from the project seem to make it compile without errors, but still, seems a bit shaky/risky to use this in a production site without further knowledge...

PAtrik, did you check out the project from Brandon Haynes on Codeplex?
