Hello people interesting in content localization,

I have tested the core content localization features in dnn 5.6 beta.

I think many bugs are resolved.

I miss one big feature before I can use (my client can use it).

What I miss, is the possibility to copy I module from the primary to a secondary language and from the secondary language to the primary language.

Look at what I miss :

Is it also the stopwatcher  to you,  to use core CL in dnn ?

Sacha, thanks for the suggestion, but unfortunately, I doubt it is that easy. There are a number of use cases, where ML support has to be integrated within the modules and the core framework needs to support it as well. Besides, your suggestion contrasts with the logic in page settings (which is way too complicated for most of the users, I agree), i.e. it needs a new usability paradigm for translation, to make "Content Localization" feature ready for real use cases and being accepted by a larger part of the international DotNetNuke user base.

Sebastien, I talaly agree with you.
But that's  a "big work" and i cant find it on the roadmap communicated on Openforce ?

My request, was a short time small enhancement to make workflow of content localization in dnn more flexible without concept change (and db change). And this in a dnn natural way we know to copy content from one page to a other.

Maybay it can be integrated in a thirt party "control panel" like that from Oliver Hine ?

Sacha, I think we all agree that the current solution hardly meets common use cases and neds a major overhaul, and of course DNN Corp. will have this on their plate, once there is a proper concept. it needs to be consistent within the DNN UI, easy to understand (i.e. intuitive) for any users and support both, monolingual and multilingual modules. I am not sure, whether adding features, which might need to be rolled back afterwards, are really a step forward. But of course, thanks for your contribution and ideas.

Cheers from Germany,

Sacha, we just released version 1.3 of Advanced Control Panel, now with a language selector for Current Culture, i.e. language of labels, captions and help texts, read more here.
I would be glad if you give it a try - you may download it for free from www.oliverhine.com.
