Hello,

We have a multilingual French and English site.  English is the default language.

We have problem with module localization.

Registered User
If you login and click on the French flag, only the site menu shows the French terms.  Even though you navigate to a French version of a page /fr-FR/, all the module RESX still show English.  Module localization is not working.

Unregistered User
If you are NOT logged in and you click on the French flag, all the site menus AND module RESX show the French language - the localization works properly.

Can anyone explain what is happening or how we can fix it?  Why do the modules localize for Unregistered user  but NOT for registered user?

We have another site setup in a very similar way, and it is working properly for both Registered and Unregistered Users.  We have compared all the settings and that appear to be the same (at least the ones we have checked).

Thanks,
Chris

DNN 5.5.1 and above: Unauthenticated users and in view mode, UI language (static elements) is following content language, i.e. the language selected in the language skin object.
In Edit mode, registered users see UI elements always in preferred language from their user profile. If you want to allow them to select UI language please use advanced control panel from www.oliverhine.com.

Hi Sebastian,

Thank you so much for helping us with this.

My concerns are for registered users that only have Registered User and Subscriber roles.

I have noticed that any Registered User has a View and Edit radio button available in the upper right corner of their Profile Page when using the default language (English in our case).  If set to view, then ALL of their modules are properly localized.  If set to Edit, then NONE of their modules are localized.

This was the one setting that was different between the two sites I mentioned before.

How can I get this this radio button set to View by default (so that new registrants can use the flags to select their language?).

Thanks,
Chris

Solved: Admn > Site Settings>Advanced Settings>Usability Settings> Control Panel Mode = "VIEW" This will set all new registrants AND all current registrants to View mode and allow the flags to determine the module localization. Wow! Two days of research and we finally found the needle in the hay stack. This needs to be better publisized. Thanks for your guidance Sebastian, it was instrumental. Chris

Another question. After returning to the site to login, do you know of a way for French registrants to be directed to the French home page, and English registrations to be directed to the English home page.

Thanks,Chris
