Hi all... I have 3 questions:

1) What is the "FIX" for in the AD Fix posts I keep reading about?  I have an installation on my Intranet working, in the sense that users can login with DOMAIN_NAME\USERNAME -- UsernamePassword, and they're immediately logged into the site and they are added as a user.

2) Is there a typical reason why users are not AUTO-logged in?  Users can login in to my new Intranet site when they are already on our network, but it asks them for their credentials.  When they enter domain\username and their AD password, they get right in w/out problems.

3) Even though I have the site set to NOT synchronize roles, when a DOMAIN user w/Admin rights to the domain logs into the site, they are made into a SITE Administrator.  That is, it seems the role actually DOES synchronize and it makes any domain admins website admins (bad).

Any ideas would be useful.  Thank you!

1.) The AD Fix (which fixes synchronization mainly) is available at http://dnn.gmss.org

2.) Did you uncomment <!-- add name="Authentication".... /> in the web.config along with removing anonymous user premissions from windowssignin.asx in IIS (Look at the pinned post at the top of the forum on AD Install Instructions)?

3.) Ummmmm I'll have to double check that for the 4.6.0 version of the AD provider. It's possible that when manually logging in it was forgotten to check whether synchronize was checked or not (it's possible it was missed on auto-login as well.

Thanks!

1) What I meant was, what does the AD Fix FIX?  What is broken?

2) Yes and Yes, I only got to where I am now by using the instructions, which are GREAT!

3) Ok, thanks!

1.) Out of the box DNN was only synchronizing accounts the first time a user logged in which doesn't work if they're added to or removed from a Security Group at a later time. There were also some issues in earlier versions of DNN where the users Display Name was incorrect and the AD Fix fixed that as well (in earlier versions of DNN).

2.) Check the EventViewer on DNN when the site is set to autologin. Does it show the user has logged in successfully?

The event viewer showed what looked to be a FAILED login.
