The default authentication provider specified in web.config is not configured properly. Authentication settings are disabled.

...is the error message I get when I go to Admin --> Authentication (logged in as Admin). All options are disabled.

I have uncommented the

   <add name="Authentication"...

line in the web.config under <httpmodules>, still getting the same error. What am i missing? (I'm using the built-in module on 3.2.2, client: WinXP SP2, IIS6 on Server 2K3 SP1, Win2K AD)

Thanks in advance,

-chris

This will occur if you previously had Tam's original authentication module installed.  Even if you uninstalled it a few remnats rename in the module settings folder.  We had this same problem and went through the tables from within SQL enterprise Manager one by one and remove the entries.

Every other installation we have done worked the first time provided the original authentication module was not installed.

I am having the same issue. I installed a fresh 3.2.2 installation on a server (W2003) that had never had any DNN installed on it before. I have followed all the steps outlined in previous posts, yet still get this error comign up every single time.

I have found this same condition on a DNN 4.0.2 fresh install if the trust level is set to "Medium" which is very surprising. If the trust is set back to Full, the AD module settings become available. Isn't DNN 4.0.2 designed for Medium trust in .NET 2.0?
