Ahhh okay I understand now. And you can't log in manually either from your workstation or from any other workstations correct? If that's the case then I suspect there's an issue with your user account. If I remember correctly (I can't read past posts when I moderate) this is a client of yours and you don't officially work for the company. Just taking a guess here but perhaps when they setup your account some restrictions were placed on it.

Ohh dear..., i just got to work this morning and it's not working again? i had my testers clear their cache/cookies but it still does not work, however, i restarted my web server again and one of my testers got in? very strange... I have just restarted my webserver again and the tester that could get in after the first restart now cannot get in and i'm very confused. Most of our applications use secure authentication for AD queries, so i tried changing that, still no joy. We have however had success with all testers if the following steps are carried out before attempting to login:

1. Add the users domain username and details to the DNN user table in the database

2. Get the user to clear their cache/cookies

3. Browse to the site and login is successful.

If i try this i still cannot get in automatically, i can if i use the windows login button and go that way in. We can populate the user table from an export from out AD store, this would be a work around though.

it's also worth mentioning that i need this to work automatically for all out portals and child portals so it is completely seemless to doamin users and we can personalise all portals.

At this point I'd talk to the network guys and see if they can possibly do some packet tracing to see what might be happening. It doesn't make sense that one day it's working and the next day it isn't.

Hi Mike,

I have spoken to our network guys and it seems that one of our domain controllers has been having issues. I have directly pointed the provider to a good controller as follows: DC=DOMAIN;DC=DOMAINCONTROLLER for the installation on our dev server and this seems to be working fine, it is though using the built in version 3 of the provider.

I rolled my version back to 3 and still have login problems, if i put my details in the database i'm fine.

We can work with this for the now Mike, i'll shout if there are any other issues.

I would like to thank you very much for all your help on this issue to date, i hope i can rely on your future support.

Andy
