Hi,
since I updated my DotNetNuke Portal from version 4.5 to 4.6.2 some AcitveDirectory users can't login to the site. I installed  and set up the ActiveDirectory Provider like it is discribed in the documentaion with no problems. Futhermore I disabled the AutoLogin by commenting out the <add name="Authentication“.....> sections in the web.config. So when I now try to login with some AD users  I'm getting redirectet to the start page with the following error:
A critical error has occurred.
Invalid Password

The log entry in the event viewer for that error is the following:

The strange thing is that the authentication with auto login works for these users when I enable it. Only the manual authentication doesn't work
I hope that somebody could help me fxing this problem.
My DotNetNuke is running on a Windows Server 200 SP2 and IIS 6.0

thanks very much for your help
Björn

How long are the passwords for the users that aren't able to log in? By default DNN sets the password length to 7 characters in the web.config. If your users have passwords that are less than that then you'll need to lower the value (I think it's minPasswordLength in the web.config). I've been bitten by that one at work myself (our minimum length is 6).

As to why it happens when they log in manually vs when they log in automatically is that on automatic login their password isn't checked as it's just logging in the person that is logged in to the computer and verifying that the user is a member of the AD. Manually it checks that they've entered the correct AD password for the user.
