Has anybody setup the Active Directory Authentication Provider with a Read Only Domain Controller?

My current setup is as follows:  a remotely hosted web server connects via VPN to our main campus.  Any AD queries go through the VPN connection.  Logins frequently ask for the username/password 4+ times before finally authenticating, and it seems like synchronization is not happening.

So, my thought is to set up a Read Only Domain Controller on the web server and, hopefully, the AD Provider will use that to authenticate against - pulling all synchronization information from the RODC.

I finally got around to doing this.  It does work, and it works pretty well.  It responds to any GC queries, as would a normal DC.

However, it turns out that the slow queries problem was more than likely caused by the lack of a WINS server on this side of our VPN.  I had to add the WINS server to get the RODC installed and, after that, my problems seemed to disappear.
