On our company intranet site I want both Windows and DNN options to be available on the login module, but Windows should be the default. The intention is that the 99% of users who are non-administrators login in with their domain login while administrators/super users login with DNN logins. We do not want to use WindowsSignIn.aspx - I want all logging in to be manual.

There doesn't seem to be an option to chose the default provider, but does anyone know how to change it in code?

I have AD provider 1.0.4 (but plan to upgrade to 1.0.5) on DNN 4.7

Sidebar question - the thinking behind implementing all administrator logins as plain DNN logins is that, if an AD group existed that mapped to "Administrators" in DNN, then members of that group would become administrators on all sites (which is a security problem). If anyone has a better way of handling administrator/super user logins I would like to know.

Thanks

The login order on the login page corresponds to the order the records appear in the Authentication table in the database. So, if you want AD to show up first it has to be before the DNN login in that table. It's been awhile since I tried it but going on memory if you copy the DNN record and paste it as a new row in the table and then delete the original record you should be golden (make a backup of the database in case I'm wrong).

Administrators can only be added manually for just that reason. It shouldn't matter if anyone belongs to an admin group on the domain, they shouldn't be added to the admin role on the DNN portal.

Thanks, putting the DNN entry after the AD entry in the Authentication table worked.

I have put in an enhancement request for an interface to allow ordering the authentication providers. See:
