I am a beginner in DNN and recently I am working in a project requiring AD authentication. However, since there're thousands users in the AD but only a small amount of them shall be granted access to the web site. We need to find a way to indicate valid users within the domain, like what we usually do for a form authentication. Could any one tell me is this possible too in AD authentication provider? Many thanks in advance.

I need a little bit more information. Is it that you want only certain pages or modules available for a small group of users or you only want the website, period, available to a small group of users? What happens when someone who you don't want to see the website visits the URL?

Also, what version of DNN are you planning on using?

I'm looking to do somethng similar with 3 scenarios (dnn 5.1):

1) The majority of the AD user should automatically login to the site as they do now.

2) Some 'kiosk' type machines login to the network with a generic AD account.  On these machines, people attempting to access the site(intranet) should be directed to the DNN login screen - if they have a network AD account, they'd sign on with that, otherwise they'd use the DNN login acct that we would have previously created for them.

3) And finally, some AD users should not be allowed to the site at all.

Thanks for your help. - Rick

You might lock these out by using the IP settings in the AD setup.

You might try a group policy blocking these accounts from the web site IP address.

Neither is a DNN solution, and I haven't tested either, just suggestions.
