You can enter a category when uploading an image.. but there's no way to sort by category or only view images within a category.

I'd like to be able to put images into one or multiple custom categories, and then sort by a custom category.   Something similar to the repository module category and sort features... would be great!

 It'd also be great to have subcategories, and to have the categories displayed in multiple columns...

 

For example:

Image Type:

Photo
Vector
Illustration

Image Subject:

People
Animals
Places
Objects
Nature
 

 

but these should be customizable...

 

 

Currently there is no way to sort by category or use a category to restrict or select images to be displayed. I'm trying to find time to get the Gallery team re-organized to embark on an entirely new Gallery 5.x project.. Implementation of the new DotNetNuke taxonomy capabilities and plug-ins for various data sources and types of display (most likely relying heavily on Silverlight) of both the thumbnails and ful-size images/media will be among its eventual features.

Other than some necessary bug fixes for Gallery 4.03.xx (particularly the one now preventing its use in DNN 5.5 and above), we do not plan to further enhance the Gallery 4.03.xx line.
