Only swf, not flv flash files are supported in Gallery. Please add your request as an enhancement in the Gallery Issue Tracker at http://dnngallery.codeplex.com There will be one more release of the 4.xx series of Gallery  this spring at about the same time that DotNetNuke 6.0 will be released. I'm currently working on fixing a few issues, converting the module to a DNN 5 package, and making it more xhtml compliant. There may be a feature or two added but as all code must be submitted for testing by mid-April don't expect to be able to add this request in time but will look into it.

Gallery 5x with a first beta release targeted for late fall 2011 will be an entirely new gallery module designed and coded from the ground up. With a Silverlight UI, It will bear little resembalence to the current module other than having the ability to import existing gallery files and metadata.

Michael,

I'm sorry but was not able to include support for FLV media in the Gallery 4.04.00 beta release. In looking into this it appeared that I would have to use either a third-party FLV player or a third-party SWF wrapper movie to play FLV media using the standard Adobe Flash Player plug-in. Although there are a number of open source possibilities for both players and SWF wrappers, any use of third-party components (even open source ones) in a DotNetNuke "core" module would have to be first approved by DotNetNuke Corporation as to license terms, etc.

Do you have any recommendations for open source FLV players?

I have been using the Repository module with FLV files, with great success.  I downloaded and installed the "flowplayer" template from the following URL [ http://www.gooddogs.com/dotnetnuke/Downloads/tabid/100/i/6/v/10/Default.aspx  ].  This template makes use of a free flv player, called FlowPlayer.  This installation will then provide your server with a video streaming capability.

The only thing that I have found is that you need to upload the FLV files via FTP and then manually modify the Repository tables to reference the FLV file as normally the FLV files are on the order of 30 to 300MB.

Regards
Hans
