Hello,

I don't understand why does Gallery module implements ISearchable interface when it's not possible to search anything in it?

Or am I wrong and it's possible to search in a certain field in gallery enabling some option, or doing something specific?

In the time that I had been working with the old gallery module I too had assumed that ISearchable had been fully implemented but later after looking at the code found that while a former developer had implemented the interface they had never added the code to actually populate the search results collection. It is quite simple to implement ISearchable but with a Gallery it would be difficult to decide what field(s) of metadata would be exposed via the interface - quite possibly that was the reason ISearchable was never really implemented previously. Likewise, although the current module's media metadata includes a Category field - it is not available for filtering of any kind. A gallery really deserves a custom search mechanism.

Since the Gallery module's features and legacy code are so far behind the times I had decided not to further develop the Gallery module. Although I had done extensive work on a entirely new gallery type module I have put that on hold at the time being and likely permanently - in part because there are so many excellent Gallery modules available commercially at a reasonable cost and in part due to my need to work on developing other open source modules which do not currently have any good commercially available extensions.

William,

Everything said here is logical and understandable by me.

As you said - it's an easy update, just put one field isearchable like description (where you can put search tags for pics). That's enough for being able to use DNN search. Very flexible, simple and quick to do, and it's giving the module users much!

Not only me, but many people will be glad having it, it's a built-in DNN functionality and doesn't have to build specialized search for the module.

Please, do this quick update. Thanks in advance!
