Hello,

I want to upload LARGE number of images in the gallery at once, e.g. when migrating old sites to DNN. Is there a way of doing this e.g. by dropping them in some folder (I understand the resources file and DB must be updated). Another possibility is writing a small .NET http poster program. I have already done something similar for my own intranet website as my own image upload system uses a custom httphandler. Problem here is security (my own solution is actually a smartclient that gets the sessionID at startup, so it can easily post images to the authenticated users' session ): I do not know how this works in DNN.

Anybody?

Set your gallery up.  Upload the files into the proper folder.  (Portalso\PortalID\Gallery) whatever you have set for your gallery folder in its configuration section.  FTP, however you want to get the files there doesn't matter.  If you have nested folders, this will be a problem.  When finished use the gallery maintance button.

I've uploaded 500 images. I select maintainance and then Synch for each directory, nothing happens. Any ideas?

500 files is asking a bit much.  The only reason I say this is this is not running in its own thread.  I am not so sure this module can make 500 thumbnails and then generate the resource file without timing out.  (ASP.NET limitation)

If nothing is happening it sounds like the handler is missing for the button click event.  There has been so many changes since this release, I am not sure if this was a bug.
