The emailing feature for a blog posting when comments are added is a great feature, but is it possible to get email notifications if a new entry is posted? I'm really after a way that I can subscribe to a blog in my portal.

Currently the only way I know of would be to subscribe to the RSS feed with an RSS reader.

I'll second this. Any chance of this feature being added to a future version? Ideally both authenticated and unauthenticated people should be able to subscribe to a blog and get emailed when new posts are made.
