I am trying to setup the following environment, but before I make a complete mess of things, thought I'd post my "needs" and see if I'm within the limits of the blogging software.

Blogs on multiple pages on intranet site

Page A:  IT Leadership Blogs

  • Blog for CIO
  • Blog for each of the CIO direct reports (5 of these)
  • Need to be able to setup the blogs for these users ahead of time, no "self setup".
  • Would like "recent" to only include these 6 blogs

Page B:

  • Department Blogs - for members of a single department
  • More traditional blogs. Update allowed for role "this department"
  • Each person in "this department" can add a blog if they wish (nice, but if have to be setup for them, that is acceptable).
  • "Recent" to only include the blogs for "this department"

Page C:

  • Just like Page B, but for another department

Any ideas on how I might accomplish this? Or get close? Or have I fantasized beyond the limits of the module? Maybe a creative implementation of child portals?

Regards,

Paul

This could work with several instances of the module on your site. Each department would have an instance and then each user a "Personal" blog. For the personal blogs you insert "an exisiting" module then set it to display the information from the individuals blog.

You can see how that works here and then here .
While this method works great for blogs of individuals, you may be better off using Scott McCullochs "News Articles" module for your puposes.

I can't give you an example of exactly whnat you are looking for, but you can take a look at something that might give you some ideas here

Hope that helps.....

What you said makes sense, but I thought I read somewhere that blog was a "site" module. I'm a bit unclear as to what that means, but seems to contradict the term "several instances".
