Hi

Just wondering if there is an option to get my website to send me a notification email if a comment is left on one of my blogs? at the moment, i have to check the blog every while and see have any comments been left. Then I can approve them. I dont want to allow users to put up comments without might approval first. It would be nice if a notification email

Hi Mark,

the blog module has a built-in feature for this. Did you check the "Send mail notification after comments and trackbacks are posted" option in your Blog Settings? Remember that also SMPT settings have to be correctly configured in the Host menu.

Best regards,
Dario Rossa

I am new to DNN and the blog module.  I am trying to set this up as describe.  I have the SMPT settings configured and a test email from the host menu works properly.  When I enable this mail notification for comments to my blog, I am not getting any mail.  Does it send immediately after a comment post is made?  What email address does it use?  Managing Editor? or Site Admin or ?

I have checked all possible email accounts that I have, so if it is sending mail, I am losing it somehow.  Would be nice to get notified that I have comments to approve.  I am using the most current version of the blog module.

UPDATE:  I found the email address it is using.  It is the address I used when first setup the DNN site and blog.  It was the email used as the "Managing Editor" for the RSS feed, and was also the site domain contact.  I have since gone in and updated both address to something different.  How do I get the blog module to reflect the change??  I have restarted the site already and it didn't change anything.  I'll keep tinkering.

Nevermind, I figured it out.  It is mailing the email address of the account associated with the blog (that created the blog).  The mail was being filtered and I missed it.  Would be nice to configure this to an alternate address.  Oh well, all works now as expected.
