Hi, Would someone please throw some light on the DNN blog module and the "upgrade modules" sold on snow covered.

I'm wanting to know what the ideal functionality is that I require if I'm wanting to use DNN, but have the same benefits as say wordpress which every other person raves about.

Am I missing out on any features or benefits with the standard DNN blog module, if so what?  What should I have, to have a kick arse easy to use and manage blog?

Thanks in advance.

Regards, Toby

Hi Kiwitoby,

Wordpress and other blogging platforms are just designed for blogging purposes, and therefore are quite simple and intuitive for an user that just needs a blog up and running in little time. DotNetNuke is a very powerfull and feature rich framework, intended for building big web applications. The module Blog is installed upon this framework, and its aim is to give you all the features of other blogging platforms under DNN.

Once you installed the DNN framework on your server (many do it automatically) you need to install the blog module upon it and create your blog. After doing that, managing your blog is quite straightforward, and you most probably will not need any addon to achieve the same results you would expect from Wordpress or other blogging platforms.

You may find usefull a very intuitive guide to setup and manage a blog under DNN and a complete walkthrough to setup Windows Live Writer to post to your blog. In any case, if you need further help, feel free to come back to this support forum.

Best regards,
Dario Rossa

Thanks for your help Dario.

Just wondered other than say pinging, was there anything else missing from the standard DNN blog module that's best to have?

Cheers - Toby

Hi Toby,

I would say tagging, indeed. But this has been added along with pinging in the roadmap for the next version.

Best regards,
Dario Rossa
