I've just added the finalRelease version 5.0.0 after running the RC for a short while.

I am trying to understand the comments : -

1. Is it possible to moderate any comments ?

2. Can I post comments without being logged in ?

Any help would be really appreciated.

1 - All comments are moderated unless the user is a blogger (for any blog in the portal).

2 - No, this functionality does not exist in the module. All users must be logged in to comment.

 Chris,

Thanks for clarifying the comment moderation. I think the Blog settings need to include this information near the comments allowed check box. This will ensure the DNN administrators who manage these modules are aware of these implicit behaviors. I found this confusing, so submitted and enhancement via codeplex. I found it to be confusing as well. I spent a couple of hours trying to figure out why an anonymous user couldn't comment on the blog when the "Allow Comments" is turned on at both the blog module level and blog entry level.

May I ask why the module won't allow anonymous comment by design? Thanks.

Han

Han - I had originally planned to allow an additional mode for comments that utilized Disqus. However, I just didn't and still don't have time for this (this would have permitted anonymous). My personal opinion, though, is that allowing anonymous comments only does a disservice to yourself, site moderators and viewers. The majority of anonymous comments are SPAM and even worse the site owner (more important in a business use) are not establishing a relationship w/ the end user so that ultimately they can engage them (which is a very important aspect of creating a strong community).
