I had this issue too.  I downloaded DotNetNuke 4.3.7 and moved over the any missing dll's from the bin directory to my site and it fixed the issue.  This was what was diffrent:

  1. DotNetNuke.DNNTreeNavigationProvider.dll
  2. DotNetNuke.XMLLoggingProvider.dll
  3. DotNetNuke.ASP2MenuNavigationProvider.dll
  4. DotNetNuke.Caching.BroadcastPollingCachingProvider.dll
  5. DotNetNuke.Caching.BroadcastPollingCachingProvider.SQLDataProvider.dll
  6. DotNetNuke.DNNDropDownNavigationProvider.dll
  7. DotNetNuke.DNNMenuNavigationProvider.dll

Good Luck,

Mark

Wow - so much for quality control!  It appears that "install" zip for DNN v4.4.1 is missing half the needed files from the bin folder, as you point out above.

I've been tearing my hair out over a "ArgumentNullException" ever since installing v4.4.1.  I eventually stripped my installation down to the bare bones install and discovered that simply changing the skin to any of the built in skins featuring a vertical menu causes a fatal error that cannot be recovered without editing the database!

"ERROR: System.ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null. Parameter name: type at System.Activator.CreateInstance(Type type, Boolean nonPublic)"

The trace reveals the problem to be with "DotNetNuke.UI.Skins.Controls.TreeViewMenu".  Which they apparently forgot to include in the release?!!  Complete time-wasting.
