To get to the setting, click on the "arrow" icon from the forum module.  (On the page that is has been placed on).  Select the "Settings" option.  Under the permissions section give "registered users" edit permissions to the module.  In the forums module this gives a user posting permissions and not administration permissions.

Thanks for the help but I don't know what I am missing here. I created a test account and I can post but I can still see the edit button which means that I can edit what other users had posted. Is there away to make the edit button go away? Thanks

Did you possibly give that user account moderation permissions??

Hi,

My users can post new posts, but they cannot edit their own posts (say to fix a spelling mistake).

The Module settings gives view permissions to All Users and Edit Permissions to Registered users.

The forum has Registered Users as an authorised edit role, but users still cannot edit their own posts. They can only see Quote and Reply.

Any ideas?

For a user to be able to edit their own posts they must be marked as trusted.
