"I am an experienced IT professional with years of experience as a developer, DBA, systems administrator, etc."

With the greatest of respect, if this is the case you would have easily had installed it.

I couldnt disagree more..   let me try, nope.    The problem is, if one small thing goes wrong..   you are completely screwed.   The install is not smart enought to tell you what went wrong or start where it left.   You have to delete the database, the files and start completely over.   There lies the problem.    Im not aware of too many .net apps that you have to read a manual and then do a bunch of manal settings to install.

Maybe the 4.5 installer is better..     but Im not moving forward with 4.5 because there are a few issues that will cause me too many support emails.

This may be an IIS problem. If the root website folder and the "dotnetnuke" application folder point to the same target folder, you will see this redirect problem.

NukeAlexS.  See Brain's comments.  Is he wrong too?  The responses I have received thus far have impressed me...until you showed up.  Now go back to your Dungeons and Dragon's game and let the big boys talk.

You are right, but this is just like most complex web applications. And upgrading is a far more complex matter than installing. Diagnosing issues and crashes on the whole really does require an understanding of ASP.NET, SQL Server and patience when searching google/DNN forums/gemini. You should realise that this is a highly complex app, and is still under the process of development.

My overall point is rather than waste time complaining and expecting, help out! MikeH here is an outstanding example of this behaviour. My last post here; otherwise I too could become guilty of complaining too much.

Thanks Nik. I'd forgotten about that one. It's something I'll remember to ask Mark to check if it isn't something else.
