I forgot

If you use the AspNetMembership provider, you can also Update user record in the table aspnet_Membership with well known Password and PasswordSalt.
Then you can clear the UserCache and use this well known password as oldpassword in UserController.ChangePassword(...).

I was trying to use "" as the old password for the user and I receive an "invalid password" error message.

Are you unable to get the current password for a user? I have code that does this in the IWeb module.

Well I don't know how to get it.  COuld you either post the snippet from the IWeb module, or point me to the right place in IWeb?

Mitch - not to have a duh moment but this is also done in the admin/security/sendpassword.ascx control the line you want is

objUser.Membership.Password = UserController.GetPassword(objUser, txtAnswer.Text)

the txtAnswer in the case of dnn is a blank string =""

hope that helps
