Does anyone have any tips on developing my own Custom Authentication Provider? We are currently using 4.5.1, and my apologies since I'm a newbee. :-D I'm in the process of trying different avenues, but thought maybe someone who has done this before might have some advice.

Any info would be helpful.

Thanks!

I'd start by reading over this blog that one of my fellow coworkers wrote about Customer Membership Providers.

If you have questions please feel free to post them here, I'll have him monitor this thread.

Thank you for the information. I have have reviewed it and am currently walking through the steps, however I have a question. Since I will be creating a new Authentication Provider, as a code base I am using Provider.Authentication.ADSI. However, I'm assuming that since this is the case, I also need to replace the Authentication.ADSI as well, and remove all the references within the web project. Is this a correct assumption?

Again, I thank you for your help...

chynick,

You may already be aware of this but there are two types of authentication models, Forms and Windows authentication. DNN supports both. The default is Forms authentication which reads/writes data from tables in the database where DNN is installed i.e. aspnet_users and the user tables.

The ADSI Provider is used in conjunction with Windows Authentication. Are you looking to replace ADSI or the AspNetMembershipProvider?

Regards,

I am aware fo the two different types of authentication models. I am looking to replace the ADSI provider. We currently use Oblix CoreID, and are redesigning our current site to use DNN. Our thought was that we could replace the ADSI provider with our own to pull from Oblix CoreID.
