I would like to customize the image folder for each user of a given control (a control I have created, which includes the editor).  When I set a custom folder through the FCKEditorCustomOptions GUI, it is not user specifc. I would like to modify that Image Folder setting for each user, as they load the page, to the same user specific folder which is used by the Repository module (using a subfolder for each UserId).

Does this sound posisble? Can I do this in the Page Load event of my control?

Thank  you,

-Clay

The editor has a property called RootImageDirectory that controls the root folder for your editor. Try changing that property from your module

Thank you for the reply. Yes, I noticed int the VS Object Browser that there were several object types, and I did find RootImageDirectory, but when I instantiate the object and set the property, the value doesn't seem to apply.  I'm really a newbie at .Net (long time VB 6 developer), so there is probably something basic I'm missing.

Might you be able to point me to an example?

Also, if I can ask one more question:  What is it that drives the appearance of the "Upload" functionality? Ist is Folder permissions, Edit Mode, a combination of both, or something else?

Thank you very much

It looks like that property is just not available on the texteditor control which is packaged into the core build.  Is that correct? I'm thinking that maybe my answer is to load up the source code for the provider, expose the property(ies) I need (RootImageDirectory), and compile that to create a new (extended) version of the Texteditor control.... Does that cound correct?

If that is the case, I wonder why the RootImageDirectory property isn't exposed in the core... Seems like it would be a popular one to override... ?

If your list of users was limited you could do this with folder permissions. Set your root repository folder as c:\whereyoursiteislocated\EditorFiles (or whatever) Then, define the root folder for the editor as that directory. Tell the repository to "Store Uploaded Files in User Directory".

Now go into the file manager and give read and write permission to the proper folders for the specific username tied to the folder. (You also need to give read write to any other role besides administrator for this to work right now)

Now when a user goes to add an image from the editor the only folder they see is their own.
