I tried this;

http://www.mitchelsellers.com/Blogs/tabid/54/ArticleType/ArticleView/ArticleID/120/PageID/57/Default.aspx

I input the connection strings, copied the decryption key over etc. I copy/pasted the upgrade files over existing. Renamed the config, I tried this and still no luck. Still getting runtime errors.

Should I also be copying over something else I'm forgetting? Haha it's driving me nuts, all I want to do is go from 4.5.1 to 4.5.5 without problems an I know it cant be this difficult and I have to be making it harder than it is. Am I supposed to leave the decryptionkey thats in the release.config and add the machinekey? Would it screw it up at chance if I just added everything that's not currently in the release.config from the old web.config before renaming?

Either way I've started an unnerving routine of failing with success at it and restoring from backups. Could anyone shed some light for a guy? Thanks for any insight, cheers!

Ok ya pay no attention to me. I have multiple parent portals running 4.5.1 but I was retardedly trying to upgrade the ONE portal I have left that's 3.x which is a detail I had failed to recognize before wasting numerous hours of my life. Somebody punch me? Anyway I'll be trying to the 4.5.5 on a 4.5.1 tonight and hopefully wont need to come back. The laughs on me today guys. cheers! ;)

Just confirming, I also receive the same IsSecure error as ianmcfarlane and yosh1 after upgrading a localhost site from 4.5.3 to 4.5.5 and carefully following Mitchel Sellers' procedure and with 'Authentication commented out' as suggested in a previous post.

Any solution?

Thanks in advance

KG

Hi

I too got the IsSecure error.

Looks like I might of browsed to my site from an external url and somehow set the upgrade off incorrectly.

Found in another reference from Mitchel Sellers, which you referenced, to just navigate to "<siteName>/Install/Install.aspx?mode=upgrade" and this began the upgrade process as per normal. I didn't bother about setting the autoupgrade off as recommended in this reference either.

Seemed to work fine - fyi.

Rob
