Greetings everyone.  I am on old school web developer with the HTML and JavaScript.  I have been extremely busy past 3 years with being a System Adminisrator and looking to get back into Web Development at work and on my own.  I am trying to set this up for the first time and trying to find FAQ's on installing it.  Is there a good post somewhere that describes the difference between Source, Starter, and install.  Or, if one of you want to take the time to explain it in this post, I would very much appreciate it.  I really would like to know so I can get these ideas out of my head!

Thanks - Mark Worthington

It's actually right on the download page:

  • Source Package - Contains everything, including full application source code
  • Starter Kit Package - Contains only the files needed to configure a development environment in Visual Web Developer Express or Visual Studio 2005
  • Install Package - Contains only the files needed for a run-time deployment to a web server
  • Upgrade Package - Contains only the files needed for an upgrade of an existing installation ( does not include module packages )
  • Documentation Package - Contains only developer documentation
