Over the past several months I've been developing an ASP.NET 2.0 Image Editing server control which provides such features as cropping, rotation, image brightness/saturation adjustments, etc and have placed it in a test/demonstration module on my business website at http://www.wesnetdesigns.com/Projects/ImageEditor/tabid/114/Default.aspx.

I would appreciate it if other DNN developers could give it a try and then post any comments/suggestions either here or via my e-mail which is bill AT wesnetdesigns.com. I am particularly interested to see how it performs in browsers other than FireFox 2.0 and IE 6/7. As you can imagine, the extensive use of dynamically created and positioned DIV elements and their related CSS has been really tricky - almost enought to make me want to return to windows applications programming!

Once I get the image editor itself fully tested and in its final design, I plan to wrap it into an image upload, selection and editing composited control that will be made available to the DNN community (including source code) at no charge.  I have felt for some time that such a control should be available in the core - perhaps this could become the base for one.

This is really incredible. This is full featured but the useful thing to me is the ability to easily crop an image.

If I would be able to click on an image on any HTML module in my site and pull it up in your image editor and then crop it and change the color and saturation that would be a very big deal.

Perhaps you can simply make a version of the HTML module that pulls up the image if you double-click on it and you're an administrator in the Edit mode?

Bill,

Nice work!

I tested this for you on a couple browsers. Firefox & Konqueror on Linux. There is a issue with Konqueror displaying the image. It shows up black. If I hit reload on the page it quickly shows up before the page gets refreshed, then it's black again when the page does refresh.

Since your also looking for suggestions, I will add one. When you have a selection and hit the brightness can you have it only apply to the selection?

Again, very nice!

Bill,

As others have mentioned great work!

It even worked in Safari on my iPhone!

Michael -

That would be an interesting use but would probably have to be implemented either as part of the FckEditor provider or the DNNLabelEdit control. When I first started writing the control I first implemented the cropping function it as an AJAX extender control that could target any ASP.NET image control but then with the addition of the other image enhancement functions moved to a full-fledged AJAX ScriptControl.
