Hello All

I need to be able to give out a url in the format: http://www.domain.com/name it would then resolve to http://www.domain.com/name/tab/17/default.aspx

I'm not worried about what the URL looks like when once a user has landed, simply that they are able to get to the correct URL by way of the simple format above.

Is this possible with human friendly urls? If so then can you give me an example please because it is a bit beyond me!

If it is not possible then does anyone else have any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Kerry Reid

Human friendly urls lokk like www.mydomain.com/menu/page.aspx, if you need www.mydomain.com/go/target, there are 3rd party modules available at the Marketplace or Snowcovered,

Actually I just found an easier way, although its a bit of a hack and won't cater for all situations...

Just create a folder with the name you want under the website root, then use IIS to create a redirection to the exact URL you want. (right click, properties on the folder in IIS)

Like I said it won't work in all cases, but I'm only interested in redirecting domain/singlefolder links that I can use marketing materials.

Thanks for the reply though.

lol, I knew it was too good to be true...

it would seem the hack will only work if the directory and the name of the page are different

i could have sworn it worked at least once! oh well, back to the drawing board...

that's exactly, what the 3rd party module does, providing a nice UI for it.
