Yehuda,

for your upgrade from V 4.7.0 do not touch web.config manually. if you get an error, first clean the cache and restart the application.

Seems like I blew it.

I did not read the new (are there?) upgrade instructions.

Now the upgrade is done and if I understand correctly the process did not configure the web.config since I manually changed it.

Any ideas how to fix it without recovering backup?

Yehuda

compare your web.config with provided release.config and check for offending differences. manual upgrade soes still work!

Thanks, I already did that. The problem is that there are too many differences.

The fact that the error only appears after I try to login led me to think that it has to do with the machine and validation keys, but I did not find any fault with these.

I'll try again the comparison and see if I can figure out something.

What do you think about my idea of rewriting the upgrade files?

Thanks.

Yehuda,

I am sure the issue is burried in the web.config - or files not correctly installed.

Please be advised for future upgrades, not to start w/o a restorable backup!(!) and for "important clients" I use to provide a staging environment to perform the backup
