Nobody but the original poster himself knows what his reference was to.  We could all speculate as to whether he was trying to be offensive (and it could very easily be taken that way) but he *could* have been referring to the tuna commercial.  Lets give them benefit of the doubt.

However, what a short-sighted point of view.  At least the non-native English speakers are TRYING to communicate to us in our native language instead of posting in their own native language and just hoping somebody here can read it and respond.  Most native English speakers never bother to try and learn another language and instead just expect that anywhere they go in the world everybody should cater to them and speak English.  What BS.

Yes, it is sometimes difficult to understand what a poster is trying to ask, what problems they are trying to portray, but cut them some slack.  Lets see you go to a forum in THEIR language and try to formulate a question.  Uh yeah, that's gonna happen.

It is one thing to expect somebody to speak your language in your country, but it is another thing to expect everybody in a global software such as DNN is to speak absolutely perfect English.

I wholeheartedly agree with Fooberichu.  I have found this forum to be a terrific value for the money. :-)  I have been able to solve many of my snags and errors by using the forum.

Sometimes I do find answers incomplete or having to little detail but then again it is hard to know the experience level of the person posting the question and I have seen some people take offense when the responder gets to basic so what to do?

Thanks again for this forum, I for one think it is great and believe it will only get better.

I am not Vietnamese, also part of this community and not really offended by the word Charlie, though I understand why Cuong is.  I am offended by the words "Pigeon English doesn't cut it," even though I have a great command of the English language.  This forum, and many others I visit, are global in nature.  That means English may not be a first, second or even reasonably understood language by the poster.  I'm amazed that some posters are even brave enough to try posting when they don't have a great command of the language, and somewhat honored that they think my communication is valuable enough that they'll try using the only language I've ever known.

More than that though, when I look through many of my answers, I assume a certain level of knowledge that may or may not be what the poster has available.  I don't mind the "Can you please explain" responses I get when I answer over someone's head.  On the other hand though, I probably write 1,500-2,000 words a day on forum posts.  That's three or four decent sized technical books a year.  I don't always have time to answer with a gramaticaly correct detailed answer.  Sometimes I may answer with a link and my name.

But I do realize that some people cannot get by on simple forum posts.  I'll try to help, but if they really need a tutorial in something, it's not a forum post answer.  They need to buy a book, take some classes and learn the basics before they can understand why I can't answer the question they ask.  And for that, I'm sorry Char...  Ummm...   Chuck!

Oh crap!  I just got PM'd by Chuck Norris.  If I show up tomorrow with two black eyes, you'll know why...

I apologize  for using the name "Charlie". I had no  idea of its implications. A couple of the posts recognized where it comes from- an old advertisement for tuna fish. Actually, I had totally forgotten where it  came from. Whenever I use it I think of a good friend of mine in school in the fifties. However, the audience in forums these days is obviously larger than I have addressed in the past and so I shall pay more attention to my wording.
