I recommend re-invent.com, I would not recommend godaddy either. Note I'm not related with any hosting company (well I don't make money out of it... yet), but there are other good DNN hosting providers out there that may suit your needs. Anyway don't take my advice, just search the forums and take your own decision.

In relative terms I am fairly new to the IM game.  My hosts are Hostgator and DreamHost.  Chalk and Cheese.  It is hard to believe one could so superior to another in terms of service, function and capacity.

proceed with informed caution.  I am.

I'd not go with GoDaddy. I tried a site there, it was a much more difficult process to set up and get working at root. It is possible, but took me a couple hours.

I use aquesthosting.com for my sites. The support I've gotten (when something goes wrong) from them has been fantastic.

I have a couple of test sites on GoDaddy, and I keep reading about problems achieving good search engine rankings due to their refusal to install DNN in the root.

What does that mean?? Others users have also pointed out this issue. Why would they deny installing in the root.

And Alli, I agree DreamHost is good. But that's simple Linux based hosting.

Looks like I ahve pretty of options and need to weigh myself. Fine, I will report back when I take a call.

I believe he is referring to the fact that GoDaddy installer forces DNN or other web applications to be installed in to a virtual folder, in essence neutering some of the DNN functionality. For example, if you deploy DNN in the virtual folder your URL will have the following appearance http://www.yourdomain.com/dnn. Some DNN functionality such as ability to create multiple parent portals on the same installation becomes very difficult to achieve because you cannot simply map addition host header alias to the site.

I have never used GoDaddy service personally, however we see the DNN sites being transferred to us almost daily from them and they all have this exact issue.
