I should add that whilst the iPhone has an excellent browser and a high resolution screen by default, most Windows Mobile devices and certainly most other mobile phones do not. That's really the reason why sites that have simpified one-way content are going to serve larger audiences.

Perhaps you could do a poll on your site to find out about what devices people have and whether they use the web browser in it.. however there is also a case to make that this is really about adding new customers to your site.. and if that means a must-have app with bells and whistles only for high end phones then that's a choice that can be made.

Boy is that an understatement!  I am really finding out which sites are designed well by using my Windows Mobile phone...  It does suck when I view my own sites and find them to be some of the worst... *grin*

I can add just one or two points.

Mobile content doesn't have to be interactive. If the true goal of providing a mobile site is to accessorise and as a result further monetise the main site, then the goal is largely met by providing basic one-way informative content.

You could set something like that up using a blank dnn skin and tie it to a mobile.pokerdiy subdomain, or get the pokerdy.mobi for it.

I'd probably start by making it a single page with a single module... one of the RSS modules, and try and get the domain to point to it automatically based on mobile browser detection. I recall that was one of the features discussed for MobiNuke. He was going to make an http module for the purpose. I'm not sure if he did but that would be very useful.

Hehe - I would hate to see you write a full paragraph Rob ;)

These stupid forum notifcations are really annoying - I really want  to discuss some more features with Marian in more detail! He's definitely got the market cornered (I don't think the DNN core would focus on this area any time soon except for leaning towards compliancy which helps in the long run).

Good call on the mobi domain - I thought I had it but I have registered it now (before some joker bought it ;)

I like the idea of RSS for the mobile site - I am still trying to decide whether to have 2 or 3 different views - Full site, mobile optimised content site, mobile app (which just profile/leagues like facebook). I think your starting point is the right approach (yes, MobiNuke does this - I have now purchased it, although I don't want it to automatically setect the browser, I want to use URLs to choose which site to show).

Thanks for the tip on mobile google search - I had not seen this before! Keep an eye on iphone.pokerdiy.com;)

Progress Update:

I have purchased and installed MobiNuke on my live site- unfortunately it does not work (waiting for an answer from the developer) although it works on my test site. The main difference is that I use the Ifinity URL Rewriter - I wonder if that could be the problem - anyone used both?

On another note - I am trying to design my version like the Facebook iphone version. If you go to http://iphone.facebook.com/login.php you will see they have a link at the bottom "Access Regular Site" - I would like to do this but I don't think it's currently possibly with MobiNuke. I have got a ton of questions for the developer, I am just not sure where to ask them....
