I thought I'd take a few moments to share my PowerDNN hosting and services experience with everyone.

9 months ago my company took on the endeavor of building a new web site (we're an online magazine with several thousand pages of content, and well over 100,000 impressions per month). Right out of the gate, we ran into a slew of problems with our original hosting provider’s capabilities in this space. Subsequently, we upgraded to a nationally recognized hosting provider and leased a private top-shelf server. Unfortunately, after 2 or 3 months of trying to tune and optimize DNN we were about ready to scrap nearly $30,000 worth of investment (our time, custom skins, custom modules, etc.).

Fortunately, however, we bumped into PowerDNN (quite literally, 1 day before my staff meeting where we were going to discuss shutting down the project and simply sticking with a classic ASP site). Immediately, the crack staff at PowerDNN helped me troubleshoot a few nagging issues, even before we were hosting with them, to get our site back up and running, and stabilized.
It wasn’t long after this that we decided to switch hosting companies yet again – to PowerDNN. In any other circumstance, this is NOT a trivial thing to do – setting up a server, applying patches, turning on appropriate services, setting up the db and IIS, setting up security, moving content, etc.

When we moved to PowerDNN, they did all of this at no charge – apparently this is a standard service they offer. So here’s where my experiences really started…

  1. They were able to migrate my entire site (actually, 3 sites) in less than 2 days
  2. All sites were migrated almost perfectly. It took just a few hours of testing and they were able to dial in the rest of the nuances that I needed
  3. Every time I’ve reached out to them for help, their initial response time is almost immediate (I’m not kidding, these folks are fast!)
  4. Their success rate for resolving issues is 100% perfect (we have a lot of professionally developed custom modules for DNN too). Even on the most elusive problems, the tech staff are able to resolve things very quickly.

What’s interesting, is that PowerDNN seems to be categorized as a “hosting” company. Interestingly enough, I would classify them as a “services hosting” company. They provide far more services than hosting.
Overall, my experience with PowerDNN has been absolutely amazing. I would recommend the team at PowerDNN any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

P.S. I am a REAL customer, and nobody asked me to provide this feedback. You can see our magazine at http://www.4x4review.com– this is the site that PowerDNN hosts for us.

Best regards,
Rick

Thats great feedback. I for one will make sure to put them at the front of my queue for the next site I do. I also like the idea that the are a DotNetNuke host first and foremost and not a host that also has a DNN script written. Thanks for sharing your story. Its nice to see positive feedback too.

$30,000 worth of investmen...wow! Nice website btw.

I'm going to subscribe powerDNN soon due to my current problems on sending newsletter to members on current hosting.

Most of the share hosting limit the email send per hour / day. This comes to a big problem when I send newsletter to my members, around 5k currently. Well, I just get the replied from powerdnn staff stated that there's no limit on the email send per day! They only limit 300 emails per batch which I think it is good to prevent overconsuming the server resource:

Before that, I never knew this problem. When I sending newsletters, all other emails generated from user registration, forget password etc are not being sent out! This explained when I have some many unverified members on specific time in a week!

Lesson 1: Making sure to ask your hosting company on their email policy.
Lesson 2: Make sure you don't use Core Newsletter to send bulk mail in thousands volumne.

George

Thanks,
George
