The Documents Module Project Team is happy to announce the release of the Administrator's Guide.  You can download it from the Documents Module Project page here. It is located under the heading "Other Project Files". Enjoy!

Chuck: Thanks for the document gude.  I have only started using DNN in the last two months to develop a production site for a project I am working on.  My question to you is regarding the comment made at the bottom of Page 32 [enclosed in the red box], where it states,

"...the setup to allow users to upload files is not yet complete."

Any idea when this will be completed?  The website I am developing will have a "Documents Editor Role" but with the current functionality, that role will not allow the addition of new documents unless one has FULL admin rights and I am not about to do that.

Thanks

T.

Hi T.

The comment about setup not being complete was refering to the steps in the tutorial to configure the ability to upload.  The module definitely does provide upload functionality.  Just read through the rest of the section titled "Organizing Documents using Folders" that starts on the following page.  That should give you all the details necessary to setup a folder to store your documents and assign permissions.

My apologies if this wasn't clear in the document.  Post back if you have more questions.

Hi Chuck:

Once again, thanks for response.  I found I failed to set permissions on the <Portal Root> folder; the other sub-folders were covered.  This brings me to another question:

How does one delete a file that is already uploaded if one does not have full admin rights that allow access to File Manager?  From the Edit Document page if ones select <Delete>, the link in the Document Module is removed but the file still remains uploaded on the server.

For background, I am running DNN 4.9.1 and Doc Mod 4.01.  The key here is that users that have admin rights to the Doc Mod will not have access to File Manager.  From what I can tell, documents can only be deleted from the File Manager.  I am hoping that the answer is not to update to DNN 5.X because the site I am building will be production site and stability is the key.

Thanks again,

T.
