You need to re-build the Documents project.  Do not build the website.  You should open the documents project using the vbproj or sln file from within the documents module folder and rebuild the DLL.  Then make sure to copy that DLL to your live site.

Any chance at giving a step by step on this please?

I'm curious as well if a fix for this is coming soon - I have a very irate set of clients now that have been 'pacified' for a couple months now. It seems like a simple enough fix, however I am more of a front-end designer and don't really have the requisite skills / confidence to go editing and recompiling my own DLLs... especially if it is going to give me issues upgrading the site in the future (?).

I also have to chime in with the above sentiments - we all are very appreciative of the people who volunteer their time to these core modules. However, more and more we too are having to locate 3rd party solutions for core module functions due to lack of flexibility (Feedback), bugs (Documents), or lack of documentation (DNN Nav). Even for my 'simple' projects I am finding myself having to install several 3rd party modules which makes ongoing maintenance a headache (check installed core modules, check 3rd party modules, check 'other' fixes, check web.config) and let's not even discuss my more complex projects.

I've rolled out close to 100 sites (been working with DNN since 3.x) hosted with our company and whenever a new security bug creeps up, I get a twitchy eye because I know that all my production projects will get sidelined until I'm done verifying each site and each of it's addtional addons, licenses, upgrade policies, known bugs, etc. etc. etc.

Hi,

I am having the same issue with 4.1.0. Some Document modules in our system retains the default folder, some do not.  Has this been resolved?

Best, Steve Ellis

Check in the file manager if the expected roles have read and/or write permissions to the folder.
