Is there a plan to add a 'post by email function' to the Forums module?  (Apologies if this has been answered before, I have tried searching for it)

We want to move from using Yahoo Groups to DNN Forums.  Our membership is used to being able to post and reply using email, and are complaining about having to log in to post to a discussion.

Thanks,William

I have no plans to add this functionality to the module. I have done the legwork to allow it to be possible in the future (removal of http dependency), but I won't ever include it with the module.

I'm curious why you said "I won't ever include it with the module".  Does this mean you don't think it's a worthwhile feature or that it should be a separate module?

It is a feature most wouldn't use, but the reason it would be separate is because to do it I would want to utilize a third party component which I couldn't distribute with the core module (because of the BSD license).

I wonder about the "most wouldn't use".  We ended up purchasing Active Forums for our site because it had post by email.

I'd love to see this feature in this module.  I'm not up to speed enough on development (yet) to work on it but perhaps eventually...
