Hi everyone,

I am currently a student and I have chosen to implement dnn(free version) as my final year project.
I could not find any free dnn hosting, therefore I am looking for some paid hosting alternatives.
Could you help me answer my two queries below?

1) Should I go for generic asp.net hosting services or specific dnn hosting service?

2) Could you recommend me a cheap one for the answer above?

I'm new to dnn. Please guide me along.

Thanks!

Tim,

  • where are you located?
  • if you don't want to bother with DNN setup and might need specific support, use dedicated dnn hosting, otherwise you may use any ASP.Net hosting
  • check out sponsors on this site.

Cheers from Germany,
Sebastian Leupold

I'm also using dnn for a last year project of mine. I've been hosting with GoDaddy and had no problems deploying on it (they also have 1 click install if you want).  Just choose the right shared hosting plan for you. They're cheap and trustworthy. Just be careful with db backups as GoDaddy doesn't allow db restore from external (locally made) db backups.

I don't think there's any reason why you should go for dnn specific hosting for such a project.

(different story for a production site..)

Does your university provide hosting for student projects?

Hi all,

Thanks for your replies and suggestions, please keep them coming.

Question: where are you located?
Answer: Singapore

Advise: if you don't want to bother with DNN setup and might need specific support, use dedicated dnn hosting, otherwise you may

use any ASP.Net hosting.
Reply: Thanks. I'll need to host it for around 10 months. Might need a domain name also.

Advise: check out sponsors on this site.
Reply: Could you recommemd some? (Sorry, I'm really new)

Advise: I'm also using dnn for a last year project of mine. I've been hosting with GoDaddy and had no problems deploying on it

Reply: How can I do backups? I will also need to write some modules of my own and implement it at the live server.

Question: Does your university provide hosting for student projects?
Answer: No, that is why I gotta spend time and money to find one that match my requirements.
