I have basically the same requirements as Rodney for the main site I run. With the version 3.6.0 release of digArticle the Ventrian News Articles migration is built-in. Nice!

Now I just have to figure out the best way to handle redirection from exiting NA articles to digArticle content and digNuke will have a convert.

At Day of Dotnetnuke - Chicago there was a discussion (during the keynote no less!?) about modules that add a bunch of sub-modules to the add new module drop-down in the control panel and how messy it can become.

This is another advantage to DigArticle in my opinion. The DigArticle Dashboard module is 7 or 8 (can't remember which) different modules in one. You just select which type of module you want it to be and the available settings change to match your selection. Now I have one module in my new module drop-down instead of 7!

Active Social is much like this too. I saw Will's new Active Social installer at DoDNN - very slick - auto-creates pages and adds the modules to them for you - basically does much of the set-up automatically.

@digmike I am an avid fan of NewsArticles and have done great things with it but I have a client now that wants some big features like the normal module structure which cannot be done in NewsArticles

As you mentioned everything is templatable so that is a great plus  but here are some more thing i need, are these included in DigArticle

  1. Templatable pagination - I can rewrite using jQuery as I do in NA but prefer if its templatable
  2. Custom Fields - a great feature of NewsArticles is the ability to add custom fields, can this be done in DigArticle so can i add custom image/integer/text etc fields that can then also be used in the templates
  3. Reuse image in templates - if i have multiple uploaded images for an article can i reference specific ones in the template eg: [image:4] imagethumb:4:100:100]
  4. Reuse of article data in Article content - in the summary and detail of the article can i reuse specific of the article content eg:  in summary I could have [imagethumb:100:100] rest of summary and in detail i could have detail [image:5]more detail[image:8] and some more detail. ( this is not in NA but this could be a great feature for better managing how the articles look with images )

Just thought I would complete this thread since some have asked.

With the recent release of DigArticle 4.0 which adds the custom fields feature to the long list of other features it offers, I do believe my search for the best DNN News/Blog module has ended.  Take a look at the change log here - an impressive amount of updates in a short amount of time!

One lessor known exclusive feature to DigArticle that I like is the ability to grab data for new "articles" from the querystring. This allows us to build our own bookmarklets!

Hmm - the updates do look good.

One thing I would like to know - I'm looking for a replacement module to Ventrian PropertyAgent - I use it here for classified poker games but it's a little inflexible on somethings (don't get me wrong, it's the bets module out there I have found for my needs so far!).

Basically I have a heavy requirement on GeoLocation. So user's start looking for a poker game by a map or through a country search. Then they can post a game and search on key fields etc.

I was wondering if DigArticle could replace this - user's publish games as "articles" which have a location and custom fields.

It's all about the maps and location....  (I have a nice interface for games on a map already - I just need to make sure I can export the games and geocode them as I do now). It's more the publishing of new games.. this is the user experience/UI I want to improve.
