Voxandrew:

In addition to having the icon file in the right place with the right name, it must be in the right format (which I don’t have with me at the moment), you can Google it.

Also, note that IE is not very consistent using the Favicons, it may not show it until after you save the URL in your favorites, other browsers will show it right away.

The one thing I can tell you is that the Favicons do work in DNN once you use the right format, with the right name, and in the right place. See some of my sites for examples: http://collegeparkjudo.org, http://www.hcmd.org, and http://www.almacigo.com.

Thanks for the information.

The favicon that I am using is supposed to be of the correct format. They were created by Favicon .com.

The strange thing is that if i type the url www.matrivue.com/favicon.ico then the webpage opens with the correct favicon and the correct favicon is placed in the address bar and the tab next to the site name!

I have finally managed to resolve this.

It is not just a question of refreshing the IE cache, You have to go in via the IE tools and delete internet files and history, then shutdown and reopen IE. Once this has been done the favicon will update correctly in the address bar and tab. It can now be saved in Favourites.

I've been looking for the favicon.ico for some time now.  I've been looking thru the backdoor in the images, portals and I can not for the life of me find it.

Exactly what file, by file should it be in.  I previously made a favicon and with upgrading to 4.09.02 I lost it.  Now I want to put another one up and can't locate it.

Please help

Hello,

I have created favicons but have never applied it to a portal. When I put it in the root folder for the portal - should it work? Or do I have to change any settings within DNN?
