Since I'm in the process of trying to develop the Store 2.3.6 module for use by a small arts nonprofit (on a DNN 5.3.6 site), which plans to use them to sell tickets to events, I thought I'd weigh in on this.  I strongly support putting wording changes in a standard file which ships with the module, to make customization easier.  "Manufacturer" and "Product number" are totally unusable for us as we're selling concert tickets.  If the labels were "Supplier," "Item Number," etc, we could probably use them but I would still like to change, say, "Supplier" to "Producer" and "Item Name" to "Event Name."

As for the suggestion that the Language Editor is a reasonable place to make these changes, I made what I thought were the appropriate changes in the Language Editor with no effect whatever on my store display.  In fact, I'm in this forum in hopes of finding some useful tips for customization.  The Language Editor is of no use unless you fully understand the ASP.net structure of the module.

Hi,

You should use the last version 03.00.00 because the 02.1.36 is 1 year old!

Corcerning the wording, you can change all strings using the Language Editor.

It would be so particularly appreciated that your messages begin with "Hello" and end with "Thank you" or any other form of politeness. Ask yourself what your reaction would be, if you were approached by me (a total stranger) on the street to ask you something without saying "Hello" nor "Thank you"? After several years of services dedicated to the community, I begin to be tired to read requests without any form of politeness.

Thank you for the tip, Gilles, but I only learned yesterday that version 3.0 even existed!  I'll get the download and install it.

As for customizing with the Language Editor - is there a guide somewhere that tells me where in the module I should make the changes to affect the displayed text?  I modified the strings in ProductAdmin.ascx and ProductDetail.ascx, which looked like they might be the right place; and it had zero effect on the display, even after I logged in as host and restarted the application.  I thought I had seen a mention somewhere of a templating guide for the store; I can't find the mention and was going to go poke around in the CodePlex to see if I could find it.  If you can give me a link I would really appreciate it.

Hi,

All files (Install package, Source package, Templating Guide, Install guide) are available at Codeplex.
Using the Language Editor, I'm able to change 'Manufacturer' by 'Supplier' in the ProductDetail.ascx file! Could you give me more info about your config? How many languages are defined, what's the default one, do you have language fallback defined...

I've downloaded the Templating guide, thank you for the link, and I probably need to read through it before continuing this discussion much further.  It's very possible that my changes didn't take because I forgot to page down to the bottom of the page and save them.  However, I made a couple of changes today which I made an effort to save, and I don't see them reflected in the public store; I'm especially concerned about the Search dropdown in the Store module.

To answer your questions, I have only one language defined, English (United States), which is the default.  I have no language fallback defined; my site is local to California in the U.S.  To make these edits I clicked on Site under Static Resources, then chose

Local resources > Desktop Modules > Store > App_LocalResources

and selected the ascx files to edit from the list displayed.  When I look at the ProductDetail.ascx  file, the fields show Event instead of Product and Producer instead of Manufacturer, but the product display in the Store doesn't reflect that.  It may be that the templating guide will explain this to me but I find it confusing.
