hello everyone.

i'm working on an advanced dotnetnuke project in visual studio 2008 .
when i first installed it i didnt set it on iis or somthing like that  but localy as a project in vs2008
and when i'm working on it its running on the asp.net development server.
my project sits in C:\DotNetNuke and the db is in the app_data (not on sql server).
its running on xp proffesional and just now i installed iis 5.1.

what should i do in order to move it iis and to the web?
does the db must be in sql server or it can stay as it is now database.mdf file?

i tried to do the whole proccess in iis with virtual directory and all that but maybe i'm not doing it
right or maybe i didnt set permissions correctly.
when i tried to run it on localhost it gives me errors about the db that it is read only and stuff.

i need your help cause my company wants the site on air asap , thanks

You likely need to setup the permissions on the directory where your DNN files are to be "modify" for the ASP.NET user on the system.

You should be able to run SQLExpress fine, so you won't have to change the database itself, though you should add a new portal alias for the Virtual Directory URL

ex: http://localhost/dotnetnuke

You likely have an alias in the PortalAlias table for http://localhost:####/something

i added a portal alias and when i run it i get this error:

File C:\DotNetNuke\Portals\_default\\Logs\LogFailures.xml.resources
Error   Access to the path 'C:\DotNetNuke\Portals\_default\Logs\LogFailures.xml.resources' is denied. The Windows User Account listed below must have Read/Write Privileges to this path.
