Hello to All

I am very new to DNN; however, I have over 15 year of programming experience. I have a question...

Can I modify the Registration Page so that I can add a custom DataType table (like the County and Region listing)?

Basically, I would like to add a Zip Code field (driven from a database table) and have it dynamically change based on a selection State. I would also like to build a custom drive "city" list to correspond with the zip code. (For example, if I select State (Region) = PA, and the Zip Code = 19107 then I would see an entry: Philadelphia. But in some cases a zip code could expand multiple towns so in this case, the user would have to select or add their own town - because it was missing from the list.)

If there's an out of the box solution please post there contact information?

Thank you!

Thank you Sebastian! I'll have a look. So far I was able to identify the database structure and I was a little disapointed to see the countries and regions were all in same table. I'm not sure how I'll handle the zip codes. Most likely I will place them into a separate table and cross reference the Lists table. Again, thank you for you time.

there is no need to store your data in Lists table, it is just the simpliest option for hierarchical data.

Sebastian,

Thank you very much for pointing me in the right direction.  I found Charles Nurse's blog.  It was very informative!

Now I got something more to work with.

As for the table, I agree. It's not bad of a table, I can see how they have the hierarchical data set up, but I'm still
puzzled as to why they would do it that way. I guess I'll find out more as I try to add my parts and additional tables.

Once again, thank you very much. I look forward to interacting with you more in the near future.

Cheers!
