Hi,
I am using DNN 05.06.01 and trying to use the DNN LinkClick function in the HTML text editor. When I select the file I get this address http://www.machineryplans.com/Portals/0/plans/Circle%20cutter%20gear.pdf which is fine but when I select Track the number of times this link is clicked and Log the user, date and time for each click I get this url: http://www.machineryplans.com/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=zgQyiu4FCFI%3d&tabid=64&mid=395 but when Iclick on it it does not go to the file I get The resource cannot be found.

I changed the link to http://www.machineryplans.com/portals/0/plans/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=zgQyiu4FCFI%3d&tabid=64&mid=395 but that did not work either. I need to use the DNN LinkClick to hide files to public. As I tried using the folder security settings but that did not work either I could access the file even though I set registered user down the bottom of file manager when I was completely logged out.

Not having much luck with this once I can work this out I can use Smith Cart to sell the downloads.

Any help would be appreciated.

Kind regards,
Buck

Hi Paul, you may want to check your web.config file to ensure the proper LinkClick handlers are present. First, check the handlers section for the following:

<add name="LinkClickHandler" path="LinkClick.aspx" verb="*" type="DotNetNuke.Services.FileSystem.FileServerHandler, DotNetNuke" preCondition="integratedMode" />

Also check the httpHandlers section for:

<add verb="*" path="LinkClick.aspx" type="DotNetNuke.Services.FileSystem.FileServerHandler, DotNetNuke" />

If need be, you can compare your web.config to a new DNN install to make sure the LinkClick handlers and httphandlers from each section match up.

Thanks Ricardo

I checked web.config and all is correct this is a fresh install DNN 05.06.0. I wonder if anyone else has this problem using LinkClick.

Boy it can be frustrating when you get these small issues that stops you in your tracks.

Kind regards,
Buck

please check, whether there are items in the dnn event viewer associated with the failed click. besides, for security reasons, I suggest upgrading to 5.6.2

Hi SSebastian,
I tried the upgrade and still get the same problem so I am using your suggested dnnWerk Rad Editor is it possible to get it to display url using LinkClick. Is there a setting I need to put in tools section for it to display as it is not visible using hyperlink tool.

Kind regards,
Buck
