Would IIS 8+ have any kind of setting on Server 2012 that would cause this issue on DotNetNuke?

Please advise...

Well after further review of the DNN Event Viewer, we have found that this appears to be a Permissions issue.

This is the case even though we have specifically set the permissions for AppPool Identity, DBs and Folder Permissions. Unfortunately, According to the DNN Event Viewer Logs, DNN still gets Permission denied issues on Server 2012.

Very Odd.... any suggestions?

There are a number of migrational things that have happened over the years within asp.net that relate to how the various versions of the framework operate.
It is 'possible' that some setting inside IIS 8 is conflicting with this older version of DNN - are the IIS 8 settings identical to the IIS 7.5 settings.

For example - the application initialization options in IIS 8 are not compatible with DNN 6x - and if these had been activated could cause issues.

Have you considered migrating to a more recent version of DNN - 6x is getting pretty old - and had a number of known issues.

hi all,

I don't know if this willhelp you out but....

I had something similar to this a couple of years ago and the problem was the server administrator changed the AppPools "Maximum Worker Processes" value from 1 to 2, therefore there was 2 versions of the content that I edited floating about.

Once this got changed back to 1 everything ran as it should.

Regards,

Geoff

Geoff,
That was a very good lead... checking the AppPool worker processes...which we just now tried and it looks like our Worker Process in the app pool is currently set and running at 1. Unfortunately, the issue of not seeing changes published still exists. Although this is frustrating, greatly appreciate the lead... something to remember and take note of in the future.

When checking the Event viewer, we find this Issue/Error any time the admin tries to publish a change via the HTML Module, the event viewer throws the following error: InnerException: Deleted 0 files, however, some files are locked. Could not delete the following files:

This seems to be our root culprit keeping us from seeing the changes.
We went ahead validated that ASP.NET account had full permissions to DNN and found that the correct permissions were applied.

Still an issue with publishing changes. We see the change but when viewing and checking the site, we do not find content changes made. The changes are only view-able while logged in as web admin or host user.So far it appears the the InnerException issue is related to File Lock issues on our server with our DNN sites.
Or
Could this also be a File Lock Issue or Could this be an issue with IIS 8 and DNN 6.2.9? At this time we are not able to upgrade but want to be sure this is the issue before attempting an upgrade. Otherwise we could see the same issue from DNN rear its ugly head even after the upgrade.

Again, still searching for a solution and checking settings/permissions. "Files Locked.Could Not Delete" seems to be the issue we are facing on Server 2012,SQL 2012 running IIS 8+
