I have a site that is heavily accessed (news site) and news changes every 10 minutes or so... so I wan to implement asp.net Page Level Output Caching to keep the page content "static" or "stale" for at least 2-3 minutes (don't really care if the content is not delivered right away) I tried to put the directive but it gave a lot of errors. I'm using DNN 5.5.0

DotNetNuke Professional Edition has a page level caching provider, but CE doesn't have the provider support for it.

Thanks.. is there a way to implement something similar. Could I change the source code to get my way into that kind of thing?

Chris when you say CE doesn't have the provider support for it do you mean: you couldn't even write a provider for CE, there's no way to plug it in OR CE just doesn't ship with one but you could write one?

I am disappointed by this it's not made clear anywhere - until you've done a load of development on CE and then start wondering why the performance is under par, then find out there's not much you can do about it whilst your server is getting hammered.

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Products/Compare-Editions.aspx PE says "high performance caching" - I can't believe there is absolutely none at page level in CE - You could do with a better comparison chart.
