I just upgraded a website from 3.2 to 4.3.5 and got the similar exception error on when installing the Events module.   My stack track said that there was a ThreadAbortionException:  Thread was being aborted.

Now the File Manager is dorked.  How do I fix that?  How do I upgrade the remaining modules?  I tried to call the default.aspx but it just loads the home page without continuing the upgrade.  Help!

I have the following problem: I cannot install DotNetNuke_4.3.5_StarterKit.vsi because of error:

Installation stopped because the directory for template installation did not exist. Please run Visual Studio on this computer to create the template directories.

Please help. I don't know what to do.

(I have installed DotNetNuke_4.3.5_Install.zip but I failed to start it because of database connection error - as I described in another thread.)

I install DNN to run under IIS in a non-networking XP machine. I got an error because ASPNET account can't access web.config.

How I can grant this ASPNET account the rights to access DNN folder?

Thank you,

d-cpt

Another way to access the ACL (showing Security tab) is via registry.  Please be careful if you have never used regedit before as it can mess your system up if done wrong.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa

Change

forceguest 1 to forceguest 0 (as DWORD value)

No restart required, just restart Windows Explorer.  HTH

If you are using XP pro, turn of "Use simple file sharing" in Folder Options > View, simple file sharing causes the security tab to be invisible...

I copied the 4.3.5 Upgrade zip over my website, carefully renamed and edited the release.config to web.config.  The upgrade process will not kick off when I browse to the site. This is on a remote hosted server. I've tried typing the entire install string Install.aspx?mode=Install and nothing happens - just says Done.  When I do mode=none it says there is nothing to upgrade.  I added the installation Date to all settings, and tried a few other keys but can't get it started.  The site still works except for can't get to users to administer and the other problems noted in similar popsts.  Any ideas?

I'm having the same issue. Everything is working fine but the version of my site is still at 4.0.3 ... I'm not sure how to get the update process to kick off. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Is there a way to manually kick off the upgrade or a file that needs to be deleted/modified to have it kick off? My first attempt at an upgrade failed, (had a misconfiguration in the web.config file), so I restored from backup and started over, but something went amiss the second time.

Any thoughts/help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jason
