Gilles,

Here is a short information of the current state of my researches of the problem with the device detection module. I tried some things and was sometimes quite surprised by the results I got.

- I installed the symbol files as you suggested. Then restarted the site but in the error log was no additional information. The error message remained the same with only some minor differences in timestamps and such. But no file or assembly information.

- The site in question was set up with WebMatrix. So I have a copy on my local PC to try with. I also installed a clean new site on my pc. Then I compared the two web.config files. What I found was that all entries for the ScriptModule are missing. I Changed the web.config file acording the new test site. Restarted the site, the problem was persisting.

- by the way, I use the standard redirect module. And the module order is similar to the order in the standard setup

I have three questions:

  1. May it be a problem with languages?
  2. May it be an error in the database?
  3. The site is multy portal. Might this introduce the problems I experience?

I think the next step would be to compare files. But this seems to be a difficult job and I won't have much time this weekend.. Maybe you have some other good idea that could help?

Thanks again for your support so far.

    Daniel
